FARM TOURS

We want to invite everyone to this years farm tours on Saturday, May 16 and Saturday, July 25.

We will assemble promptly at 3:00 at the entrance of our one mile long driveway to our farm. It will be a combination of both driving and walking as we work our way across our farm meadows viewing our various groups of cattle. We firmly believe that everyone should be able to see where their beef comes from and what kind of life the animals have that produced that beef. You will be able to find out how we produce “NUTRIENT DENSE” beef, why we produce it, and why it is the healthiest form of beef available.

SUMMER BUTCHERING

We are scheduled to butcher nine animals on June 24 and June 26. These late June butcherings produce the tastiest beef that we have because we catch the cool season grasses at their peak of quality as we finish our cattle for slaughter. As always, we recommend preordering ahead of butchering to assure that you can receive all of the cuts you request. We fill our preorders based on the date from which the order was received. Folks attending the July 25 farm tour will be able to pick up the preorders as well.

 

FREE SHIPPING

We are deeply concerned about our environment and strive to save as much carbon as possible in our soils and to maximize our ozone layer around this precious earth. That said, grass farming is the best way to achieve those ends raising cattle. However, significant fossil fuel wastes continue to occur in both conventional and grass-fed beef operations as the retail cuts are moved around this country. We are seeing grass fed and organic beef in health food stores in the U.S. that originated in Australia, Tanzania, and Argentina, and all parts of the U.S. These types of long distance hauling are major consumers of fossil fuels. The “ buying local movement” is definitely efficient in saving fossil fuel as compared to the old system of supplying meat to grocery stores. This local system works if you live very close to the farmer’s market, you have free time at the same time the farmer’s market is open, and the farmer lives very close to the farmers market.

We think that the very best system to minimize fossil fuel wastes in the transporting of retail beef cuts is to use a transport system that is

already going right by your door everyday, and now we are going to do it for free. We’ll bet that 90% of the people reading this already have a UPS delivery truck that goes by their place of residence every weekday. We ship all of our beef one or two day UPS ground most anywhere east of the Mississippi River. (With the exception of some places in Florida and Georgia). We now offer free shipping with a minimum order of either $150.00 or 35# weight. Multiple folks may order together as long as one shipping destination is designated. We like to think our new free shipping policy will redefine “buying local” to include from our farm to most everywhere east of the Mississippi. It is definitely the most ecologically efficient way of moving retail meat cuts around your state and our country.

 

NEW SOFTWARE

We are extremely old fashioned in about every way we do business. We personally return every email. We guarantee every piece of meat we sell – if you are not happy with its taste we will always gladly replace it with no questions asked. We have our hands on every part of our livestock operation until its finished product leaves our premises.

We’ve decided to get “new fashioned” and improve our software capabilities to be able to manage each beef purchasers account with more efficiency and accuracy. We will soon be able to track who bought what and when. We want to reward our regular and high volume purchasers with specials and discounts as they occur, as we expand our beef operation in the next several years.
